You Gotta Nourish to Flourish

“Self-care is whatever recharges your physical, mental and spiritual battery.”  For the first time in my life, I feel like I’m not punishing myself.  I’m breathing, getting rest and taking good care. "Nutrients come not only in your food intake, but what you read, what you watch and how you feed our soul. " Getting a routine and/or structure, like taking a hard stop from work at 5pm, getting nature incorporated into your life daily and paying attention to how you are treating your body and what you feeding it, are just a few self-care items to think about.  Nutrients [...]

Geode | World of Travel ~ Who Can Commit to Themselves?

"There is something about visiting a place for the first time" I was craving a trip so badly.  I wanted to get away but uncertain of traveling during COVID.  The beach is where everyone was escaping too.  I rode the rollercoaster of friends committing and backing out.  I have had my share of traveling alone, but I wanted connection in the worst way. I was familiar with Sleep Bear Dunes in the upper peninsula in Michigan.  I remember thinking last time I was there several years ago, that this would be a yearly destination because I was so taken by [...]

GEODE | Changing Perceptions of Spiritual Music

Changing Perceptions of Spiritual Music Motivational yoga music is my jam. I have always been inspired and motivated by music and it brings out my creativity in curating playlists my clients love. I spend countless hours curating playlists for my classes. I’m actually well known for my playlisting and typically at the end of class there is a particular song that stands out in a client’s mind and they want to know who it is. Teacher’s often follow my playlists and I am always willing and happy to share. "Music helps us to express ourselves in ways we cannot otherwise" [...]

Geode True Story | “We Are All Drowning in Distractions”

WE ARE ALL DROWNING IN DISTRACTIONS Do you practice a sustainable healthy lifestyle?  One that can give you longevity for movement, clarity and a stress-free life?  We work with all people who want to relieve stress, find clarity, live pain free to increase alignment in their energetic body. Physical fitness has been a part of my whole life. In teenage years, cheerleading, playing tennis (even though I wasn’t great at it) and bike riding was the foundation of how my athletic life persisted into my adult life.  After high school graduation and started college, I joined a “women’s only gym.”  [...]

Geode Mindfulness | Chaturanga Dandasana

We love yoga!  Some love vinyasa flow so much, it's their "jam."  Those high to low planks, Chaturanga Dandasana, in the sometimes 10 and 15 a session.  Wow and ouch!  I want to chat with you about some common injuries that can happen with misaligned chaturanga that can lead to shoulder strain and rotator cuff injuries as well as neck pain and low back pain. So it is important to do this asana properly.  Doing a pose incorrectly over and over again = potential for repetitive motion injuries, such as rotator cuff, shoulder and wrist injuries. Some other common injuries [...]

Geode Transitions 2020 | Reframe Your Feelings

My thoughts emerging from life at this moment is “panic.”  Uncertainty of times has my head spinning around itself.  To reframe my feelings, I came back to my roots and my studies.  I dive deep into things that are a bit woo woo, but they have offered guidance for me as well as constructive tools to navigate through hardships. "I’ve had brief moments of laughing my ass off" I challenged myself to do 30 min of yoga a day for 30 days.  My world is changing around me, I was grieving and navigating trauma, but I kept one promise to [...]

Trauma | The Body Keeps the Score

Hang in here with me as I get technical on the brainwave and heart rate issues topic.  You may first impress that this is a "yawn" but hear me out.   As everyone is experiencing a type of trauma these days, even if it's this "stay home" trauma it has changed our lives in this moment, it's still traumatic to our systems. Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical [...]

Geode | Represent – Our Symbol

The dodecahedron is an expression of life and consciousness, allowing us to go beyond the physical vibrations of the body and to reconnect with the higher vibration of our true nature. Platonic Solids are a set of five, three dimensional shapes that date back to the Greek mathematician Pythagoras and later named after the Greek Philosopher Plato.  The Tetrahedron, Cube, Octahedron, Dodecahedron and Icosahedron each have unique characteristics, in that all sides are equal, the angles are the same and the faces are identical. It was the great Greek Philosopher, Plato, who paired each of the platonic solids with a [...]

Trees are the lungs of our planet

I have been drawing on a lot of “blanks” in my motivation and my creativity lately.  Given the current situation, this is no surprise.  We are overridden with fear, anxiety, uncertainty and so on.  Social media and the news feeds don’t help fuel motivation or creativity, it can contribute to these creativity blocks.  A way for me to come back to my creativity is to take a car ride, or while in the shower I may think about something creative or doing a task totally unrelated to what I’m trying to produce.  I pause, and write it in my journal.  [...]

Transparency | Conscious Communication

GEODE VIRTUAL FLOW  I have been working on expanding the capacity of being in what is.  What is in my control, and what is out of my control?  I am learning to empower myself.  I thank God every day that I embarked on this yoga journey.  I feel like my practice has enabled me to “sit in the shit” and navigate through it with a little more ease than I would have otherwise had I not taken this leap into practice. We are speaking of interconnection, anxiety and fear tools for what it is like to be at home.  How [...]
